Frequently Asked Questions -
E-Business Cards/E-Stationery
Below is a list of the most common questions. If you need clarification, please
contact me.
What About Spam?
While the best industry practices are used to construct the
eCard, we do not guarantee that your email will not be sent to or
blocked by various email providers’ SPAM folders. It is possible
that some emails may be blocked entirely due to Spam rules in effect
at the recipient’s email provider or computer. The Internet and the
multitude of email service providers comprise an ever-changing
environment, in which all email providers and subscribers can
establish their own SPAM parameters. While we have attempted to
develop the eCard within as many known parameters as possible to
avoid being blocked as SPAM, we cannot predict all scenarios.
Besides being a direct violation of company policy, sending email to
mass lists increases the chance that your email will end up blocked
and/or in a SPAM folder.
If you find that a company or email service provider is blocking
your email because of the eCard, you have a couple of options: 1.
delete the eCard image when sending emails to individuals at that
company; or, 2. you can request that your e-mail recipient add you
to his or her company’s accepted list or “white” list. It is also a
good idea to request that your client add you to their own personal
accepted list.
When I send a new message, I see boxes around
my eCard tabs and email and web address - will the recipient see
these?
No. Only the sender sees these boxes which show
where the links (hot spots) are located on the eCard.
If I use e-business cards/E-stationery will my messages take a long time to
download?
No. I keep my designs simple so that
they load quickly. I optimize the images for faster download times.
Can I send e-business cards/e-stationery with any email program besides
Outlook or Outlook Express for Windows?
Yes,
AOL, AOL.Com Webmail, IncrediMail, Goldmine, MSN Hotmail Classic, MSN Hotmail LIVE,
Outlook 2000, Outlook 2003, Outlook 2007, Outlook Express, Outlook
Web Access, Thunderbird, Windows Mail (Vista), Yahoo!
Mail, Yahoo! Mail Beta
Is there a Mac version available?
No. The current Mac versions of Outlook do
not
support email business cards and stationery/newsletters.
Can I use Word to edit my email messages when using
e-stationery and e-business cards?
No. You must use the built in email editor in Outlook or Outlook
Express.
I've heard that not everyone can see HTML email. Is that true?
Yes, that is true. Not everyone is able to view an HTML email.
Currently more than 85% of email recipients can see it. If you
choose to store your images on a website instead of embedding them
recipients will not be able to view your images if they are off
line.
What happens when someone isn't able to view an HTML email and I
send them a message on email stationery?
They will see the text of your message, but the images will not
be displayed.
Who cannot view an HTML email?
Anyone still using AOL version 5.0 and under and people who
choose to only receive plain text email will not be able to see your
email stationery. In some cases corporate firewalls will cause
images in an email to not be displayed.
Is there any special software required for someone to be able to
see my e-business cards/e-stationery?
No. The only requirement for people to be able to view your email
stationery is that they use an email program capable of displaying
HTML. Except for AOL version 5.0, and under nearly everyone else
qualifies.
Do the people who receive my email have to use Outlook or
Outlook Express to see my e-business cards/e-stationery?
No. As long as they use an email program capable of displaying
HTML email, your recipients will see your information.
